A Sickning Crunch

So, yesterday afternoon I was making a run to the storage units where we are, well, storing some stuff. Dad needed me to get a certain item from out of one of the buildings, so I was the man for the job. Due to some miscommunication, I took dad's brand new truck (2007 Chevy 2500) instead of the van, which I was suppose to take. (I didn't find out that I wasn't suppose to take the truck until later.) So, Caleb and I drive down to storage, dig around in there for a LONG time, and can't find what we need. We call dad, let him know the situation, he's okay with it, we leave. Then...it happened.

The driveway to the storage units is narrow and off of a 4-lane road that is especially busy in the afternoon (the time Caleb and I were there.) Since it was a 4-lane road, there are two lanes on each side, obviously. So, I look for an opening in traffic. The left lane of the two is full of cars going around 45 mph, but the right lane, the one I am adjacent to anyway, is open. So, I turn sharply into the right lane in order to avoid getting the nose of the long truck hit by cars in the other lane. I make the turn, but not without CRUSHING in the side of the truck against a yellow metal pole that stood about 3 feet high, meant to keep vehicles off the grass. I will post pictures later, but let me assure you the damage was HUGE. I took the truck to a body shop this afternoon for an estimate: $3,300. And I have to be good for it. What is left to say?

Eth! I'm so sorry. I feel really bad about giving you a hard time about temporarily "falling off the face of the earth" for the week. I'm thankful that God protected you and your brother and that nothing more serious happened. I'm glad it was the truck and not you...

Don't worry about not being "around" much. I understand. =)

I am praying for you.
