That basically sums up my frustration after a 12-0 loss to our division rivals, Mt. Zion. Our defense played really well. First of all, they were HUGE and FAST (a.k.a. black)! Their lineman were averaging pretty close to 300 lbs, their receivers and backs were all in the 200s. It was scary. But despite that, our defense didn't let them score at all in the 2nd half, and gave the offense plenty of opportunities to get on the board. We turned the ball over like 6 times, couldn't score 2-3 times when we were about 10 yards away...it was REALLY frustrating. So, we are now 2-1, and second behind Mt. Zion. We aren't too worried about it; we will see them again in the playoffs and get payback then. One thing we did really well: we NEVER gave up. We never give up. That is just something our team doesn't do. Even when there is only 2 minutes left and there is no way we can win, we will still go as hard as we can and make someone HURT. Although they were bigger then us, we took 2-3 players out of the game with injuries. It was smashmouth football. It was a blast.
Personal Note: I had a really frustrating game. I am just too dang short to play against a 6' 4" wide receiver, and thus they scored their first touchdown to MY man. 5 yards away, threw it up to the back corner of the endzone, I played it perfectly, all over my man, but I just can't jump high enough, touchdown Mt. Zion. That ticked me off big time. Coaches weren't mad at me though, which was good. They said I did a really good job, and I was just too short. What can I say? It pretty much sucks, but they all won't be like that. So after the first series I basically watched the whole game, which was really frustrating, espcially when the guy they put in for me missed a very important tackle. Oh well. I will just have to dominate at Fayetville. ;-)

*hands Eth some potion that makes him grow ten feet in a day*
That oughta help, football dude. *sigh* I guess you can't win them all. Hope next week's game is better.
Eth, don't be too hard on youself. Like Shanna said, you can't win them all. No one is perfect, therefore, no team is perfect, no matter how much you may want it to be. That's life, and we all just need to learn to except it. Even when its hard to. *sighs* But I'm glad you didn't give up. That's so great that your team still goes strong, no matter how close to the end you are.
I wish I could see y'all play sometime, but I doubt that'll ever happen. We'll just keep rooting for you and pray that you enjoy playing the game, no matter who wins and who looses. *smiles*
God bless, Eth!
But that is the whole thing...you CAN win them all, especially in a small league like we are in. We just didn't. But thanks, you too, for the encouragement. I am over it now, and ready to put some pain on the next team. ;-) I will have to get game film, Faith, of my best game this year and send it to you in the mail, just so you can watch me play. ;-)
Shanna? I'm not sure I like that one...
Sounds to me, Eth, that the defense did their job and your team just somehow needs to get the offense going. Seeing as EA is an amazing wide receiver, maybe y'all should pay her to play for you.
;-)
Man, that's too bad. I hope next week's game is better! I'll try to be there to root for you. :-)
Sounds good to me, Eth! I'll hold you to it. ;-)
Hey, have you heard Girl America by Matt Kearney?
Happy Football Opening Day, ETH!
I hope you're enjoying it...even if your Broncos are losing. =)
Dude!
A last-second win for your Broncos! How exciting is that? I am now convinced you enjoyed/are enjoying football opening day. Congratulations. (Seriously.) =) We're all waiting to hear how Friday's game went. Come baaaaaaaaack to us!
So? How'd the game go?
Ethan, POST! *cries* I want to hear about this exciting game that I missed!
slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker. slacker.

*ahem* I know you're too busy to update, but I can still leave comments. I look forward to the time that you write another post...someday...somewhere. ;-) Hope football's going well! GO PRIDE!

Katie Beth has a gun. I might actually listen to her if I were you. Just because you haven't died before doesn't mean you're immortal. ;-)
Just so you know, I think your official entrance back into the world of "The Perpetual Playoffs" should be tomorrow when you tell us about the FINAL GAME OF THE REGULAR SEASON! What exactly is "homecoming" anyway? When I hear or read about a homecoming game, the only thing I can think about is a dance. =P
I hope you win tonight.
dear long lost friend...i think your name is eth,
let me introduce you to something. its name is "The Perpetual Playoffs." you used to be pals and hang out together a couple times a week. and you used to tell some of us out here in the US (or is it outer space?) what was going on; what was happening with football and what music you were listening to; and sometimes even other stuff about life as well. it misses you. we miss you. i think this blog would like to hang out with you again. maybe you should try it. come back to it and us!
sincerely,
shan
;-)
Eth... now that your ankle's broken... you have a lot more time to blog. *hint hint* You know, just while you're thinking up ideas for that soon-to-be famous book.
Oh wait. I'm writing the book. Forgot about that.
How about you give me ideas, I write the book, and THEN we share the profits. ;-)
would you PLEASE post someday soon?
obviously, you've forgotten about this place. i seem to remember you saying that would "never happen again." i think you should just take two minutes (you should have two FREE minutes somewhere in your day) to let us know you're alive. and that you'll post here someday soon. come on, man; we haven't forgotten you!
