Globetrotter

Ok, so maybe not a globetrotter, but I have certainly been all over the east coast in the past two weeks. Man, it has been so long since I have posted on this thing that I barely recognize my color scheme. Did I pick that out? It's not like it's ugly or anything... *rolls eyes* So, since it has been so long since I have posted, and since there is NO way on earth I can possibly recount all that has happened in the past 4 months, I will just talk about the past two weeks.

Virginia - Christian Worlview Student Conference

Early Monday morning two of my friends and I drove up from Charlotte, NC to Newport News, Va for the CWSC. Mapquest said that it was going to be a 7+ hour drive...yeah right. We got there in just above six. I guess that pretty much speaks for Jordan's (my friend) driving habits. Won't lie about it, though: driving fast is a heck of a lot of fun. Ok, that was a side-tangent.

So, we stayed there for a week, although it seemed like a month. Although the speakers were good, everything else about the conference was bad: the kids (most of them dorks), the food (inetible at times, and that is saying a lot coming from me), the dorms (so cold at night that I still have a runny nose), and the rules. Gosh, you think they would trust you a bit, especially since we are almost ALL homeschooled and we were all Presbyterians. Not that that means anything, although it should. So, without going into much detail, I enjoyed the classes, which was the part I was expecting to dread. I met one really cool kid there, though. Ian, from Richmond, and we are going to try to do something on Labor Day or Spring break. Anyway...that was crazy.

Pennsylvania - Schola Academy

This event brought light into my soul, rest and sleep back to my body, and most importantly, food into my stomach. Not to mention learning 5 new dances and hanging out with the COOLEST PEOPLE ON EARTH!! So yeah, back to the story. I had to get a cab from the conference to the airport, and it need to pick me up at 4:30 AM. Turns out security wouldn't let the cab in, so while I am running around a large school campus trying to find this guy or somebody who would help me find him (which is hard to do at 4:30 in the morning) the clock is ticking and I CAN'T miss my flight. After calling the cab place and talking to the security guard on duty, they finally let the dude come to me...with a police escort. Crazy. Long story short, I get to my gate BARELY in time, but I made it. After that, the weekend was without hitch or bump (except when I stepped on my poor partners toes while dancing, yeah...)

Ya'll know what happened after that, so yeah. I will hit the highlights: I ate until I was full, Mr. C threw me a pass with a FOOTBALL!, I increased my swing dancing talent significantly (which is not saying much) and I also learned 4 other dances, not to mention reading great books, seeing Mr. C and other Scholites in person. What could be better? (That's rhetorical, by the way.)

North Carolina - Groover House

That was a blast, too. I got to drive a 15 passanger van for 150 miles through Virigina, I got to ride the biggest dirtbike I have ever riden (that's not a boast, an XR 100 is pretty small), and I met more people from Schola and from other online classes. It was a blast. I would post more about it (and still might) but my brother is kicking me off the computer. You are probably asleep right now, so it doesn't make a difference, but I am just trying to make up for my lack of posts recently.

Peace out, ya'll.

*ahem* ^^That was me. Haha. A different user was signed in AGAIN. Here it goes...

This is going to be loooooooooong.

First: "Man, it has been so long since I have posted on this thing that I barely recognize my color scheme. Did I pick that out? It's not like it's ugly or anything... *rolls eyes*"

...You might want to work on the color scheme. It's just a little hard to look at. And I don't think your picture looks anything like you. You look like a wanna-be gangster in that one. Gangsters don't swing dance.

Second: The conference sounds interesting. The only reason I'm talking about it here is because I've BEEN to Newport News, VA. My grandparents live across the bay on the tip of the Delmarva peninsula and we go down there all the time. It's a beautiful area.

Third: "This event brought light into my soul, rest and sleep back to my body, and most importantly, food into my stomach." Food into your stomach is more important than light into your soul? Haha. Just kidding. I'm glad it also brought sleep and rest to your body...it did the opposite for me. I've been walking around like a zombie pretty much ever since Sunday, yawning uncontrollably.

Fourth: I'm glad you made it to your plane and ultimately to our house on time. Woot for that!

Fifth: "After that, the weekend was without hitch or bump (except when I stepped on my poor partners toes while dancing, yeah...)" Lol! I don't think you ever stepped on mine...

Sixth: I can't believe Mr. C even touched a football. Traitor. =)

Seventh: *screams* THE PRETZEL!!!

Eigth: We're having so much fun here. I wish you and everyone else could still be here. Last night, Manuel and I polkaed and polkaed and polkaed. I am so tired and sore this morning. Next time I see you, you're going to learn how to polka. =)

Ninth: I hope you keep updating this thing. I love blogs.

Tenth: This is super long. Sorry...

looks good, Eth.

lol, glad you like it. I was just waiting for your approval... ;-)

Second: About Newport News: it was SOOO hot! It was 104 degrees 2 days I was there, with humidity that made NC feel like a desert. I guess it was because it is on a peninsula like that. But it is a nice town, and the university even nicer.

Third: Prioties...you know it. And the "light into my soul" was just a bit of drama, heh. Yeah, but going to bed at 12:00 is better then going to bed at 2:00, so yeah.

Fourth: Me too. That would have been really, really bad...

Fifth: You were the lucky one. ;-)

Sixth: Its only a matter of time before you, yes even you, Shannon, will throw a football.

Seventh: WOHOO!!

Eigth: I totally wish I could be there too, although I am leaving for a football game in about 5 minutes. And I am all for learning how to polka! Sounds like a blast. Its just a matter of us seeing each other again, heh.

Ninth: I will never desert this thing again! (dejavu...) ;-)

Tenth: So is mine! So you are forgiven. Got to run and go knock some kids around. Have a blast, Shannon!

Won't believe it till I see it. ;-)

and when you see it, you'll believe it.

Can I break into this little conversation here? Thanks. ;-)

We had a blast having you, Ethan! The girls keep saying they miss you. And Juliet says, "And it's so quiet!" She's right. Half the conversation is gone. We're having fun, but it's not very loud fun. :-D

Have fun playing football. :-) Cuz you would never like football or anything...

You know, we realized a few minutes ago that although Matthews is 3.5 hours away, you (or I) could fly down for the day and it would be faster. We all fly free. We should do that some weekend once school starts and you're not so tied up with football. That could be cool.

Ttyl!

I don't know, Shannon...you are going to have to do it at least twice and then let me pinch you so that I know you are real before I believe you... ;-)

We do, lol. So hurry up and start that road trip before school starts!

KB: no, you can't break into this conversation...geez. ;-) Great. I am already known as the loud-mouth. Darn it. Please try to keep that video of my singing of the internet...please! Tell the girls that I miss them too!

...or anything... *dies laughing*

We totally should! Maybe after football season is over, you could fly down here, then we could drive up to Boone and visit Hana at App. State or something. *That* would be cool.

Thanks again so much for having me. Tell Juliet and everyone else I said hi!
